The Runner’s Rule: Why You Shouldn’t Try Anything New on Race Day

Every runner has heard the golden rule: Never try anything new on race day. It’s drilled into training plans, whispered at starting lines, and confirmed by countless personal experiences (both good and bad). And for good reason—introducing something unfamiliar on race day can lead to unexpected discomfort, performance issues, or even an early DNF (Did Not Finish). But what happens when a new product could actually improve your performance?

That’s exactly what happened to Chayli.

A Runner’s Dilemma: Sticking to the Rule

Chayli discovered Wrax at a fitness expo the day before a marathon. Like so many runners, she was intrigued but hesitant. She knew the rule: No new gear, no new nutrition, nothing untested.
